My husband and I were taking a drive recently, soaking in the sights of our beautiful county. As we drove by this corn field, we noticed the “white birds” and pulled over. We were on Hwy A, just north of E. We were careful taking mental snapshots at first. They didn’t fly away so we took out our cameras. But evidently, they were camera shy and started to walk/fly away. This was our best shot. When we got home, we did our research for ID and were pleasantly surprised to find they were trumpeter swans, rare in DC. I, for one, believe they were here trumpeting HOPE as the days go by. – Dave and Rosann Hollinger
