"Explore the Door " Hikes and Outing Series

Free outings are held each month throughout Door County- See Current Schedule

"Explore the Door" Hike of the Bissen Property- Photo by Kathy WolffCome hike, ski, or snowshoe with us to special places in Door County!  The "Explore the Door" outing series offers Land Trust members a variety of outdoor adventures led by staff or trained Door County Land Trust volunteer hike leaders.  We'll visit different locations throughout Door County each month.  Notification is sent via email.  All "Explore the Door" outings are free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

Door County Festival of Nature

May 24 - 25, 2013- throughout Door County

Door County Festival of Nature is an annual event that features a series of hikes, presentations and workshops.  It is a great way to find out more about the natural wonders of Door County. Sponsors include the Ridges Sanctuary, Door County Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, Crossroads at Big Creek, The Clearing and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Washington Island Birding Festival

May 31 - June 2, 2013  - Washington Island

At this annual event, birding enthusiasts gather on Washington Island for a weekend of bird-related excursions and programs.  A portion of the proceeds raised by this event benefit the Door County Land Trust

Dining for Open Spaces 2013

Several events held June through October - throughout Door County

Click here to view the 2013 Dining for Open Spaces BrochureWe hope you’ll gather around one of the Door County Land Trust’s Dining for Open Spaces tables this year.  The Dining for Open Spaces is an annual series of events hosted by Land Trust members to benefit the Door County Land Trust.  They welcome other fellow land preservation enthusiasts into their homes for brunches, lunches, cocktail parties and dinners.  Most Dining events include a visit to one of Door County’s beautiful open spaces.

 


Door County Sea Kayak Symposium

July 12-14, 2013 - Rowleys Bay and throughout Door County

Rutabaga Paddlesports of Madison sponsors this annual event held each July and donates part of its proceeds to the Door County Land Trust. It’s a great weekend for novices and seasoned kayakers alike!

Washington Island Folk Festival

July 26, 7:30pm - Washington Island

Each year at the Washington Island Folk Festival, talented local musicians and storytellers offer crowd-pleasing performances at the Red Barn Theatre. Proceeds from the Folk Fest benefit the Door County Land Trust.  For more information, please contact the Land Trust at info@doorcountylandtrust.org.

Annual Membership Gathering

August 24 and 25- TBD

Save the date for the Door County Land Trust’s Annual Membership Gathering! Conversation, camaraderie, hikes, heavy hors d’oeuvres and other activities make this a popular event. The Gathering picnic will be held on Sunday afternoon. Hikes will be
held Saturday and Sunday and offer the opportunity to tour some of the Land Trust’s protected properties. Invitations, complete with details, will be mailed in mid-July.
