Jean Barrett

Retired from the position of Quality Manager for a major pharmaceutical company, Jean is a resident of Baileys Harbor, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2000 and a board member since 2002, Jean received her Bachelors degree in biology from William Smith College and her Masters degree in microbiology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

 

Tom Blackwood

Tom is retired after a career as Superintendent of Peninsula State Park in Door County, and is a resident of Juddville, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust and a board member since 2010, Tom received a Bachelors degree in psychology and Masters degree in recreation resources management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

 

Donna DeNardo – President Elect

Retired from a career in health care, Donna held senior executive positions in pharmacy services organizations. She is a resident of Fish Creek, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2009 and a board member since 2012, Donna received her Bachelors degree in management from Judson University and her Masters degree in business from Northwestern University.

 

Peter Deschler

Peter is recently retired from his forty-four year career as an attorney with a Milwaukee based law firm. He is a resident of Juddville, near Fish Creek, Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2013 and board member since 2017, Peter is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Marquette University Law School.

 

Jack Finger

Now retired from a career as an environmental educator, Jack is a resident of Ellison Bay, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2000 and a board member since 2011, Jack earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in science education from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Cathy Fiorato – secretary of the board

Retired after a career in computer systems development, Cathy is a resident of Fish Creek, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2002 and a board member since 2007, Cathy earned her Bachelors degree in biology from the University of Illinois.

 

Barbara Frank

Barbara is a retired journalist residing in Milwaukee, and a Chambers Island resident since 1980.

A member of the Land Trust since 2009, Barbara is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and has a Masters degree from Drew University.

 

Donna Hake Secretary

Retired from a career as an organizational development consultant, Donna is a resident of Sturgeon Bay, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2002 and a board member since 2014, Donna earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in business at Pepperdine University and a Masters degree in organizational psychology at the University of Chicago.

 

Mark Martin

Formerly a conservation biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Mark is a resident of Arlington, Wisconsin. He is the long-serving co-manager of the Madison Audubon Society’s Goose Pond Sanctuary, has worked extensively with the DNR’s State Natural Area program in Door County, and has vacationed in Door County for 40 years.

A member of the Land Trust since 2012 and a board member since 2012, Mark earned a Bachelors degree in wildlife management from the University of Wisconsin and is a certified wildlife biologist.

 

Bryan Nelson

Currently a small business owner (innkeeper) in Baileys Harbor, Bryan was formerly a professional pilot and boatyard manager. He is a resident of Baileys Harbor, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust and a board member since 2000, Bryan holds a Bachelors degree in economics from Ripon College.

 

Kevin Nordahl

A real estate professional, Kevin is a lifelong resident of Door County and currently resides in Baileys Harbor.

A member of the Land Trust and a board member since 2016, Kevin earned a Bachelors degree in English at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

 

Jeff Ottum – President

A retired vice-president of human resources in manufacturing, Jeff is a resident of Sturgeon Bay, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2007 and a board member since 2013, Jeff received a Bachelors degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University and a Masters degree in business from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Judy Perkins

Retired from a career as a real estate attorney, Judy resides in Shorewood, Wisconsin and in Ellison Bay, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2011 and a board member since 2014, Judy received a Bachelors degree in education from the University of Kansas, a MSW degree and a JD from the University of Iowa.

 

Gretchen Schmelzer

Retired from a career as a special education teacher, Gretchen is a substitute teacher in the Sturgeon Bay School District and resident of Sturgeon Bay, in Door County.

A member since 2008, chair of the Annual Gathering in 2016, and board member since 2017, Gretchen received her Bachelors degree in special education from Southern Connecticut State University and her Masters degree in environmental education from Fairfield University, Connecticut.

 

Tim Stone – Treasurer

A retired small business owner, Tim is a resident of Baileys Harbor, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2000 and a board member since 2009, Tim received a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Roy Thilly 

Retired from a career as an attorney and CEO for an electric utility, Roy is a resident of Baileys Harbor, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2006, officer and current chair of the Endowment Trustees Committee, member of the Finance Committee, and board member since 2017, Roy received his Bachelors from Columbia University and Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Rob Watson

Retired from a career as an architect, Rob is a resident of Brussels, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2011 and a board member since 2013, Rob received a Bachelors degree in architecture from the University of California.

 

Kathy Wolff – Past President

A retired educator, Kathy is a resident of Fish Creek, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2002 and a board member since 2008, Kathy received a Bachelors degree in English from Clarke University and a Masters degree in English from Purdue University.

 

Karen Yancey

Currently a journalist and marketing professional, Karen is a resident of Tower Lakes, Illinois and a property owner on Washington Island, in Door County.

A member of the Land Trust since 2002 and a board member since 2003, Karen earned a Bachelors degree at Duke University and a Masters degree in journalism at Northwestern University.
