Sandhill Cranes at the Brussels Hill/Kayes Creek Bissen Property

Thursday, September 9th at 5:00 p.m.
or
Saturday, September 11th at 5:00 p.m.

Back by popular demand! September is the perfect time to explore the conservation easement property of Ivan and JoAnn Bissen in Southern Door County. We’ll view the deep ravines, stately forests, scenic overlooks, and large wetlands on the property. If we’re lucky, we’ll see the sandhill cranes that visit the property each fall.

Fall Colors at the Lautenbach Woods Nature Preserve

Thursday, October 14th at 1:00 p.m.
or
Saturday, October 16th at 10:00 a.m.

Spectacular fall colors will impress us as we hike the easy to moderately difficult 1.25 mile trail through the dense hardwood and hemlock forest located a few miles south of Egg Harbor.

Picha Woods Nature Preserve

Thursday, November 11th at 1:00 p.m.
or
Saturday, November 13th at 10:00 a.m.

For many, the location of the Picha Woods Nature Preserve is a mystery. Join us as we solve the mystery and take you to the 40-acre preserve located off the beaten path to hike the woodlands and learn about the surrounding lands in the Thorp Pond State Natural Area and Hibbards Creek. The preserve was donated to the Door County Land Trust by the family of George and Lila Picha.

Explore New Additions to the Bayshore Blufflands Nature Preserve

Saturday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m.

Celebrate the Year of the Escarpment by exploring some of the newly acquired portions of the Bay Shore Blufflands Nature Preserve west of Carlsville. The recent additions have helped bring the protected acres in the area to over 500!

Don’t miss this special opportunity to visit the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center!

Aldo Leopold Legacy Tour

Saturday, October 9— 8:30 a.m. departure, $110 per person

Enjoy the beautiful fall colors with Land Trust friends as we travel by luxury coach to the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center near Baraboo, Wisconsin. Estella and Chuck Lauter will share bits of wisdom from Leopold’s, A Sand County Almanac, during the ride. We will eat a box lunch prior to taking a guided tour of the Legacy Center where we’ll hear how solar power, geothermal, and sustainable building materials have helped this facility earn the rating of "greenest building in the world." We’ll then tour Aldo Leopold’s converted chicken shed shack and farm. We’ll learn about the land ethic Leopold espoused and his legacy as the father of wildlife conservation. On the return trip, we will stop for a casual dinner at Stone Cellar Brew Pub in Appleton and arrive back in Sturgeon Bay at approximately 9:30 p.m. The coach, tour fee, snacks, lunch and dinner are included in the cost. A cash bar will be available during dinner.  See the Aldo Leopold Legacy Tour Flyer (184 kb) for more details.

Call the Door County Land Trust office at (920) 746-1359 to reserve your tickets.
