Paddle in to Mud Lake
A Door County Land Trust E-Club Event
Saturday, April 26th
9: 30 a.m. to noon
Meet at 9:30 AM on County Q, four miles north of Baileys Harbor, where Reiboldt's Creek crosses Q. There's a small gravel parking area alongside the creek in front of Moonlight bay. Participants will need to provide their own canoe or kayak. Bayshore Ourtdoor Store in Sister Bay does rent boats and provides foam racks for car-top transport. (Please call Bayshore by Thursday if you are interested in renting.)
Come join us in learning about the conservation easement adjacent to the Mud Lake Wildlife Area. After the paddle we'll gather for lunch at a local restaurant.
Dress warmly and bring a change of clothes (just in case). This is a relatively easy paddle, but there may be a need to get out and pull the boats over an old beaver dam along the creek leading into Mud Lake. Early spring when the water level is high is the best time for access to this fascinating undeveloped area.
If the weather is extremely cold and rainy, we will cancel the paddle but may be able to hike instead. We'll notify everyone by e-mail the day before the trip if there's any question about the weather..
Please sign up for the paddle and/or breakfast with jneuman@dcwis.com.
Do not send regrets unless you have to cancel after having signed up.
Save these dates in May (detailed info will be sent out later this month:
Wednesday, May 21 an E-Hike in the Woods at Monument Point
May 23-25 Festival of Nature for information and to register, call the Ridges Sanctuary (920) 839-2802
