Common buckthorn

Wednesday, October 11, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm –

Join the Bay Shore Blufflands Buckthorn Blast! We will work together to eradicate buckthorn and honeysuckle–two non-native invasives that threaten the native ecology. Please meet at the Bay Shore Blufflands Nature Preserve “upper” parking area located at 5519 Reynolds Road. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather and the use of herbicide (long sleeves and pants). The Land Trust will provide any necessary equipment, but bring along favorite loppers or work gloves if you wish. We’ll also have water available and snacks. Please contact the Door County Land Trust office in Sturgeon Bay with questions (920) 746-1359 or volunteer@doorcountylandtrust.org.

What is the Bay Shore Blufflands Buckthorn Blast? The Door County Land Trust, in partnership with Bay Shore Property Owners Association, is beginning a multi-year restoration and buckthorn eradication effort on the Bay Shore Blufflands Nature Preserve. This community conservation project will bring neighbors and community together to achieve a common goal, awareness and eradication of buckthorn (among other invasive species).

Funding for this project is provided by the Bay Shore Property Owners Association and Door County Land Trust with a Land Trust Excellence & Advancement Partnership (LEAP) grant from the Land Trust Alliance and Gathering Waters.
